Nike Ensō
For the first time in history, skateboarding was featured in the 2020 Tokyo Summer Games. This project features a new skateboarding brand identity for Nike to be launched at the Games. #NikeEnso
Nike Ensō was designed with skateboarders in mind - the risk-takers, the trouble-makers and the boundary-breakers. These people strive to defy the odds and stand up for what they believe in, while expressing themselves through their passion. This new brand captures this unique and innovative spirit, delivering essential and technologically advanced features that provide style and performance on and off the board.
The skateboarding experience and culture is an environment where anything is possible and the only boundaries that exist are those that are self-imposed. Nike Ensō encourages people to break those boundaries and become street-shattering individuals. We celebrate these boundary-breakers who shatter expectations and refuse to be confined by the status quo. After all, why bother with boundaries if they were meant to be broken? #NikeEnso
To commemorate the start of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Ensō released exclusive merchandise, including hats, shirts, hoodies, stickers, and more. Among these items were limited edition skateboards, which were only available for purchase in person during the dates of the games. Once the games were finished, the skateboards were no longer available for purchase.
Nike joined forces with Snapchat to spread the word about their new brand, Ensō. Through interactive filters, people were given the chance to virtually try on their products and get a better feel for the style. On top of that, the Snapchat link that would pop-up directly provided access to the Ensō merch website, giving viewers the opportunity to purchase the items of their liking.
Ensō's Instagram page was filled with posts advertising the exciting feature of being able to virtually try on products through interactive filters on Snapchat. As the Tokyo 2020 Olympics drew closer, Ensō commissioned artists to paint murals in unexpected places across different cities. The company promoted these artworks on their feed and Instagram stories, and those who found the pieces and used Snapchat to reveal a fun fact about Ensō were rewarded with a 30% discount on their purchase.
